Sadly, you may now have forgotten what a fantastic summer we had and the novelty of yet another blue sky seemingly a distant memory.

Unfortunately, all good things inevitably come to an end and for many this already spells cold, dark commutes, zero scantily clad ‘after work’ drinks & BBQs and instead copious amounts of tea, comfort food and radiator hugging.

Alas, all is not lost as the thought of next summer needn’t be the only saviour to drag us through the day.

Instead why not spend the next 6 months getting in the best shape of your life? Rather than the panic traditionally experienced 2 weeks before summer holidays why not give yourself a fighting chance?

Follow these 5 tips and you’ll be well on the way to less panic and tighter abs…

1. Join a gym or class you love.

All too often we meet clients that joined a gym they hate just because it was the cheapest they could find. What inevitably happens is that they never attend. Does this sound like something you’ve done? Why not spend that little bit extra and actually get your money’s worth by looking forward to your next workout?  Check out our Indoor and Outdoor classes!

2. Treat yourself to a new pair of sports footwear or clothing.

It may seem insignificant but this little incentive could make all the difference. We consistently recommend minimalist footwear, not only are they great for improving foot & ankle strength but also posture. With correct technique they can also help lessen your chances of running related injuries ten fold. Vivo Stealths are our favourite shoe at present as they have some great colours out…

3. Choose your workout friends wisely.

Involving a mate in your new found pastime can be a double edged sword. If picked poorly all too often you’ll get the call an hour before class, silently waiting for one another to make the first excuse for not going. Eradicate this simply by working out with a much more motivated individual and if you don’t have one of these handy be that motivated individual!

4. Look to others for inspiration.

There’s nothing wrong with looking at Jessica Ennis or Usain Bolt and thinking… “I want a body like that”… but be realistic. If you’re 6ft 6” I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you’re never going to look much like Jessica considering she’s only 5ft 4”. The good news is you can be as lean and shapely with the correct training, nutrition and determination.

5. Get S.M.A.R.T.

If you want to give yourself the best chance of success and proudly strut around in nothing but a Baywatch bikini next Summer see the simple examples in the table below to make your own use of this fantastic acronym.
